UN Security Council Extends UNSOM Mandate in Somalia to Foster Peace and Stability

In a landmark decision made on Tuesday, the United Nations Security Council voted overwhelmingly to pass Resolution 2705, extending the mandate of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) for an additional year, until October 31, 2024.
