The recent attempted hijacking of a cargo ship connected to Israel has sparked concerns and discussions about the actors involved in the incident. While initial indications point towards Somali pirates, the possibility of a connection to the Houthi group from Yemen hasn't been ruled out, according to Brigadier General Patrick Ryder, a spokesperson for the Pentagon.

The incident unfolded as armed individuals boarded the tanker Central Park, only to be intercepted and detained by the United States Navy destroyer Mason, preventing the successful capture of the vessel.

This event occurred in the context of ongoing conflict in Yemen, where Houthi rebels, supported by Iran, have gained ground and emerged as a formidable force in the region. Despite a decrease in the intensity of fighting, the Houthis have conducted raids on ships and launched ballistic missiles towards US ships, raising significant concerns.

The Houthis, while not acknowledging their involvement in these recent maritime incidents, have previously claimed seizing commercial ships in the Red Sea that they allege have connections to Israel.
