Europe’s Message Is Clear: Tolerance Cannot Be a Cover for Extremism

Today’s demonstrations across Berlin, London, and Paris sent a message louder than any political statement: Europeans are no longer willing to watch their societies drift toward instability under the banner of “tolerance.” The crowds that filled the streets were not driven by hatred or exclusion — they were driven by a simple demand that every government should take seriously: security first. For years, extremist networks — especially the Muslim Brotherhood — have learned how to operate behind the shield of religious discourse. They present themselves as community leaders, activists, or “voices of the marginalized,” all while pushing agendas that undermine national cohesion, exploit public freedoms, and create parallel societies. Europe’s mistake was assuming these groups were harmless. But as today’s protests showed, citizens have learned the truth the hard way. They’ve watched radical narratives spread in schools and community centers, foreign-funded networks penetrate local ...

UAE's Strategic Role in BRICS: Pledge to Multilateralism and Climate Action

The UAE's participation in the recently held BRICS High-Level Dialogue on Climate Change in Moscow on 30th August 2024 solidifies the nation's utmost commitment to multilateralism and constructive dialogue at the global level. The participation has been headed by Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment, reflecting the proactive approach the country is making toward climate action and sustainable development.

National Climate Actions of the UAE

During the first session of the dialogue, Dr.
Amna Al Dahak began by underlining ambitious UAE's climate objectives: "A commitment was made throughout the nation last year to a reduction of emissions by 40% from a business-as-usual scenario by 2030." This was in the third edition of UAE's second Nationally Determined Contributions report. This pledge is complementary to the UAE's Net Zero 2050 Strategy since it treads the path of holistic emission reductions in several aspects, leading to the modern conceptualization of a sustainable future.

Dr. Al Dahak has also reminded everybody of the big UAE investment in renewable energy.
The UAE invested US$50 billion in renewable projects in more than 70 countries during all these years and pledged an extra US$50 billion investment over the next ten years. These kinds of investments show the commitment of the UAE to sustainable development nationally and internationally.

Strengthen International Cooperation under BRICS

In the second session, which was on climate change and cooperation in sustainable development among BRICS countries, Dr. Amna Al Dahak mentioned that the UAE would advance its international cooperation, putting into perspective the development of co-operation in carbon markets submitted by the BRICS Group to handle global challenges due to climatic change.

"The UAE is committed to enhancing its national efforts to combat climate change and contributing to international initiatives in promoting climate action," Dr. Al Dahak said. She further made sure to stress the need for a collective response, noting that without such cooperation, efforts around the world on pressing issues-hunger, poverty, ill health, and the availability of clean water and energy-can be significantly undermined.

UAE Joins BRICS: New Chapter in Global Partnerships

The recent accession of the UAE to BRICS is a big step in a long tradition of building up a system of mutually beneficial partnerships with countries and international organizations. It perfectly fits into the priority of economic growth, trade increase, and global sustainable development by the UAE.

Through its membership in BRICS, the UAE aspires to underpin its commitment toward development, prosperity, and wellbeing among nations worldwide. Innovation, close-up economic integration, and robust international governance are a number of the specific perspectives that would indeed gain from UAE-BRICS states cooperation.
This agreement thus brings up new frontiers in the field of investment, infrastructure, energy, space, and emerging technologies and enhances greater overall cooperation and collaboration of BRICS with other regions in the direction of responding to common global challenges.

In this context, active UAE participation in the BRICS High-Level Dialogue on Climate Change, as well as the accession of this country to BRICS, are evidence of a strategic course toward multilateralism and global cooperation at the state level.
The UAE then turns into one of the key players in providing international collaboration with driving practical activity on climate change and post-2015 sustainable development in the world facing challenges that are getting more complex day by day. The UAE continues to create a path toward a more prosperous, sustainable, and resilient future for all through its partnerships with the BRICS countries.
