Strengthening Partnerships: Nigeria and UAE's Collaborative Efforts in the Solid Minerals Sector

Nigeria and the UAE are poised to deepen their economic ties, particularly in the solid minerals sector. Following a recent courtesy visit by UAE Ambassador H.E. Salem Shaeed Al Shamsi, Nigeria's Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, emphasized the importance of this collaboration. The two nations aim to regulate gold exports, which have often been illegal, by establishing a framework that legitimizes trade and maximizes mutual benefits. Dr. Alake noted Nigeria's wealth of sought-after minerals and the UAE's position as a key player in mineral trade. To further strengthen this partnership, discussions are underway to enhance technology transfer, vital for advancing Nigeria’s mining capabilities. Additionally, the lifting of visa restrictions between the two countries opens doors for increased cooperation. Looking ahead, an upcoming Nigeria-UAE economic forum is set to attract 30-35 major companies from the Middle East, aiming to boost foreign direct inve

Kadib shan maalmood oo dagaal ka socday Laascaanood, Somaliland waxay ogolaatay xabbad joojin.

Kadib shan maalmood oo dagaal ka socday SSC iyo Somaliland dhexdooda, Somaliland waxay ogolaatay xabbad joojin.
Ka dib dagaal shan maalmood ka socday bariga deegaankaas oo ay shaqaalaha caafimaadku sheegeen inay ku dhinteen dad tiro badan, ayaa maamulka Somaliland ee ka go’ay Soomaaliya, ku dhawaaqay gelinkii dambe ee Jimcihii shalay inay ku heshiiyeen xabbad-joojin bilaa shuruud ah.

Kadib markii saraakiisha deegaanka ay sheegeen in ay doonayaan in ay dib ugu biiraan dowladda federaalka ah ee Soomaaliya, ayaa waxaa maalintii Isniinta ahayd magaalada Laascaanood ee xarunta gobolka Sool ka dhacay dagaal xooggan oo u dhaxeeya ciidamada maamulka Somaliland iyo maleeshiyaad hubeysan oo ka mid ah gobolka SSC Khaatuma State.

Markii Somaliland ay ku dhawaaqday inay ka go'day Soomaaliya sannadkii 1991-kii, qaar ka mid ah hoggaamiyeyaasha beelaha ayaa ka soo horjeestay degaannada lagu muransan yahay ee ku yaalla xadka ay la wadaagto Puntland, oo ah maamul-goboleedka Soomaaliya. Intaa wixii ka dambeeyey qaranimada Somaliland may helin aqoonsi la taaban karo oo caalami ah.

Inkasta oo ay hore u soo weerareen maleeshiyooyin, haddana dawladda Somaliland waxay ogolaatay xabbad joojin aan u qalmin, sida uu sheegay wasiirka gaashaandhigga, Cabdiqani Maxamuud Caateeye. Ilaa hadda lama garanayo halka ay marayso xabad joojintii ka dhacday goobtii lagu dagaalamay, balse C/risaaq Maxamed Xasan oo ah afhayeenka mucaaradka Somaliland ayaa ku tilmaamay mid been abuur ah.

Waxa uu u sheegay wakaalada wararka ee Reuters in Somaliland ay qorshaynayso, waxana aanu ognahay in ay duulaan ku qaadi doonaan beri. "Waxaan nahay dad dulman oo shan maalmood lagu soo weeraray hub xooggan." Dadka ku dhaqan magaalada ayaa soo sheegaya in inta uu dagaalku socday la duqeeyay guryo iyo goobo caafimaad, waxaana ka dhashay dhimashada ugu yaraan 58 qof iyo dhaawacyo kala duwan.

Taliyihii hore ee magaaladaas, Puntland, ayaa beeniyay inuu jiro xiriir.

Mareykanka ayaa dalbaday in la joojiyo duqeymaha aan loo meel dayin ee ka dhacaya magaalada, halka howlgalka Qaramada Midoobay ee Soomaaliya uu ku booriyay in si deg deg ah loo yareeyo dagaallada, ilaalinta rayidka, iyo gargaarka bini'aadantinimo ee aan la carqaladeyn.

Saalax Jaamac, Ra’iisal Wasaare ku xigeenka Somaliya, ayaa war-saxaafadeed uu soo saaray kaga hadlay sida uu uga xun yahay dadkii ku dhintay dagaaladii ka dhacay Laascaanood, waxaanu xukuumadda Somaliland u soo jeediyay inay dhex dhexaad ka noqoto xal nabadeed.

Advance but No Deal: Talks between Ethiopia and Somalia in Turkey

Significantly for East African diplomacy, the second round of Turkish-mediated negotiations between Somalia and Ethiopia concluded in Ankara on August 13, 2024, without a definitive deal. Officials from both nations and Turkey claim that despite this, the conversations made clear development. The focus of the debates is on a controversial port agreement Ethiopia signed in January 2024 with the self-declared sovereign nation of Somalandon. Relations between Ethiopia and Somaliland have been seriously strained by the deal wherein Ethiopia leases 20 kilometers of Somaliland's coastline in exchange for acceptance of Somaliland's independence. Viewing Somaliland as a part of its sovereign territory, Mogadishu denounced the agreement as unconstitutional, ejecting the Ethiopian ambassador and threatening to pull Ethiopian forces supporting Somalia out of the front lines against Islamist militants. Unlike past diplomatic interactions, the Ankara negotiations were conducted indirectly v
