UAE Injects US$ 30 Million Into Ghana to Support Biodiversity and Climate Goals

In one fell swoop, the United Arab Emirates has tried to address dual challenges related to climate change and community development by announcing a $30 million partnership with the Republic of Ghana. UAE's all-encompassing humanitarian campaign to assist Sudanese refugees

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is leading a multifarious humanitarian operation to give Sudanese refugees vital aid in response to the country's continuous humanitarian catastrophe. Working with foreign partners like France and the United Nations, this broad project covers medical treatment, food aid, school renovations, and infrastructure upgrades.

Food Assistance for Chad

The UAE sent an aid jet loaded with 13 tons of food supplies to Chad on August 11, 2023. This major initiative is meant to give Sudanese people who have fled their country to Chad immediate humanitarian aid in view of the continuous war in their native land. The prompt delivery of these food supplies emphasizes UAE's will to meet food security demands among displaced people.

Field Hospital Chad

Established in Chad, the UAE has set up a sizable field hospital specifically to provide Sudanese refugees with necessary medical treatment. The hospital has seen over 9,000 patients since its opening and has been a ray of hope for those most in need of medical treatment. Comprising several departments including pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, general surgery, internal medicine, emergency care, and more, the facility boasts an investment of $20 million. Ten ICU beds, fifty inpatient beds, twenty-two doctors, ninety-two nurses, twelve medical support personnel, and forty-one non-medical support workers staff it.

Am-Djarass, Sudan's Emirates Field Hospital

Apart from providing medical treatment, the Emirates Field Hospital located in Am-Djarass, Sudan, actively supports refugee education by means of school upkeep and rehabilitation. The hospital also concentrates on drilling wells to supply clean water, giving food aid to meet food security needs, lighting markets and roads for better safety, and organizing aid distribution to simplify support activities. The UAE has shown a long-term dedication to the welfare of Chad by pledging $467 million in relief over the previous five years.

Projects for School Renovations

The UAE is renovating three schools—a boys' school, a girls' school, and a main school—in order to assist Sudanese refugees who have taken asylum in Chad. Working with the Emirates Red Crescent, the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, the Khalifa bin Zayed Nahyan Foundation, and the UAE's Office for Aid Coordination, this project seeks to improve Sudanese kids' learning environment. Modern furniture and conveniences will be present in classrooms to enable students to fit their new environment.

The More General Humanitarian Efforts of UAE

The UAE's $70 million pledge to meet immediate humanitarian needs in Sudan includes its contribution to the World Health Organisation (WHO). Programs in disease prevention, emergency response, and healthcare infrastructure are supported by this money. Aimed at giving humanitarian support to Sudan and surrounding nations impacted by the continuous civil war, the UAE and the UN have negotiated a $20 million aid package for Sudan. The UAE has been appreciated by the UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), for their kind donations to assist Sudanese civilians.
