Dubai Humanitarian has facilitated the supply of 90 metric tonnes of primary requirements in the framework of saving the Sudanese from extreme humanitarian challenges. This becomes a great demonstration of international cooperation. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has led the entire project, reflecting UAE's commitment to humanitarian projects worldwide.
Vital Assistance during Bleak Times
Working in coordination with the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, Dubai Humanitarian delivered 53 metric tons of basic commodities whose need is of special urgency for Sudan. "This airlift is crucial for assisting 68,000 individuals in the Darfur region, who are not only displaced by devastating floods but also suffer from famine," underlined UNHCR Head of Supply Management Service Benjamin Safari.
Valued at AED1.48 million ($405,000), the aid was fully covered by Dubai Humanitarian's Global Humanitarian Impact Fund. Spearheaded by DXB-H, the fund targets programs that support humanitarian interventions with a fast response from Dubai to hotspots around the world.
Expansion into Chad
Dubai Humanitarian also provided the requisite relief supplies to Ndjamena, the capital of Chad, thereby expanding their involvement. The relief provided with food items, shelter materials, and medical supplies is bound to alleviate the misery of approximately 70,000 displaced Sudanese living in Chad. This action helps in safeguarding the livelihoods of the affected people besides catering to immediate needs .
Commitment to Humanitarian Intervention
This project reflects Dubai Humanitarian's larger commitment to supporting populations everywhere affected by such natural disasters and crises. By implementing such initiatives, Dubai Humanitarian offers much-needed hope to thousands of families who have especially strenuous living conditions.
This mission underpins the strategic importance of the UAE and Dubai, in particular, as a global logistics hub for humanitarian activities by using its geographical and logistic capacity to quickly and effectively assist people in need.
