Europe’s Message Is Clear: Tolerance Cannot Be a Cover for Extremism

Today’s demonstrations across Berlin, London, and Paris sent a message louder than any political statement: Europeans are no longer willing to watch their societies drift toward instability under the banner of “tolerance.” The crowds that filled the streets were not driven by hatred or exclusion — they were driven by a simple demand that every government should take seriously: security first. For years, extremist networks — especially the Muslim Brotherhood — have learned how to operate behind the shield of religious discourse. They present themselves as community leaders, activists, or “voices of the marginalized,” all while pushing agendas that undermine national cohesion, exploit public freedoms, and create parallel societies. Europe’s mistake was assuming these groups were harmless. But as today’s protests showed, citizens have learned the truth the hard way. They’ve watched radical narratives spread in schools and community centers, foreign-funded networks penetrate local ...

Kenya's Commitment to Regional Peace and Stability: Defence Cabinet Secretary's Visit to Somalia

During a one-day visit to Somalia, Kenya's Defence Cabinet Secretary, Aden Duale, made security a top priority. His visit involved meetings with senior Somali Defence Forces personnel, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, and President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, where the discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in the fight against violent extremism and terrorism.

Duale underscored Kenya's pride in its role in restoring peace and stability in Somalia, which has contributed to significant socio-economic gains in the region. He emphasized the critical importance of cooperation between the two nations in combatting terrorism, highlighting that security is a fundamental component of economic development.

Kenya's commitment to the economic development of the region through a stable Somalia was reaffirmed by Duale. He also conveyed President William Ruto's pledge to provide the necessary resources to combat extremist groups like Al-Shabaab.

"As an anchor state within the region, Kenya, through the administration of William Ruto, is determined to achieve a stable and prosperous region," Duale stated.

Accompanying Duale on this visit were Chief of Defence Forces Brigadier General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyadin Addow and Minister of Defence (Somali) Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur. Also in attendance were Maj Gen Fred Leuria of the ACDF OPD&T, Col Duncan Keitany from the Defense Headquarters, Col (Dr) Edward Mackutwa, Col John Mnjala, and other officials from Nairobi-based Defense Headquarters.

During the visit, discussions were held at the offices of Defence Minister Abdikadir Mohamed and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre. Both sides expressed their commitment to a stable Somalia and cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

Duale stressed the importance of unity in the face of security challenges, emphasizing that concerted efforts to combat terrorism would enhance the region's prosperity. A stable Somalia is seen as crucial for increased trade and economic growth in the East African region.

Regarding the departure of Kenya Defence Forces personnel assigned to the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia, CS Duale explained that it would occur in four stages, dependent on the progress of the peacekeeping effort in Somalia and the prevailing security and political conditions. He reiterated Kenya's commitment to peace, stability, and sustainable development in Somalia, emphasizing that these efforts would benefit both Kenya and the wider region.

Kenya's dedication to regional peace and security remains steadfast, as demonstrated by the discussions and commitments made during Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale's visit to Somalia. The ongoing collaboration between these neighboring nations underscores their shared goal of a peaceful and prosperous Horn of Africa.
